When you think of Maui, you envision sunbathing on the beach watching surfers while drinking a Mai Tai. However, there is a whole ecosystem situated on the island to explore. In the Haleakalā National Park, you can find unexpected gems tucked away in the forest. Haleakalā is home to an array of endemic fish, as well as to a multitude of waterfalls, including the beautiful Waimoku Falls, which, in my opinion, is one of the most spectacular waterfalls you’ll ever see. After visiting the falls and hiking through the tropical and bamboo forest, you can drive to The Summit of the Haleakalā volcano and see a once-in-a-lifetime view of the island’s natural beauty. From the top of the island, you can see Maui from a bird’s eye view, as well as witness the most awe-inspiring sunset you’ll ever see. Haleakalā National Park is an experience worth taking on your next trip to Maui.
